Scheduling:

The fastest and easiest way to schedule a new client  appointment is through emailing carmenscroggin@gmail.com. Email is checked often and generally responded to in a timely manner.

Current clients are welcome to utilize text for scheduling at their comfort level.

You are also welcome to leave a voicemail at 972-898-0277.  Voicemail is checked less frequently than email.

Your First Session:

Before your first session, it is normal to have second thoughts and feel anxious.  Don't give up! Most people find their first session to be much more positive than anticipated.  You will be asked to give some background information about your situation and to think about your goals for change.  You will be gently guided in this process in a nonjudgmental and compassionate manner.  You are encouraged to ask any questions you may have.  At the end of the session, we will discuss further sessions and make your next appointment.  You may be asked to complete homework assignments or readings for future sessions.

Approaches:

You will be treated as an individual and there is no cookie cutter approach that will be used.  Sessions are respectful, warm, compassionate and often include a bit of humor.  You are the expert on yourself and you will be treated as such.  Your insights, goals and knowledge will be the driving force for the sessions.

Approaches that may be utilized include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution focused, multicultural, mindfulness, gestalt, strength- based, psychoeducation, and relaxation-imagery.

Continued Sessions:

Your sessions will be individualized to meet your specific, unique situation.  We will work together to make your sessions positive and life changing.  You are always encouraged to ask questions or express your thoughts and feelings about your sessions.  Expect to work toward your goals, gain insights into your thoughts and behaviors, and be treated with kindness and compassion.  When you have met you goals, we will successfully end your sessions.
